I've been a fan of the 416 Rem Mag since it came out in the 80's but had never owned one. That changed recently when through a stroke of luck I became the proud owner of a Remington Custom Shop factory takeoff barrel. I located a donor action and sent both off to High Tech Customs - Precision Built Custom Rifles for barrel indexing and installation. It came back quickly and well done. I opened up the barrel channel of an HS Precision stock and adjusted the trigger to about 4 lbs. Loctited some Warne steel bases on it and topped it with a Kahles 1.5-6x 30 mm tube scope in Warne QD rings.
Went to the range yesterday with some 400 gr Partitions and 82 gr Win 760 in new RP brass and shot it from the bench. I had brought along my shoulder pad but took the first shot without it and never bothered to put it on. The rifle weighs right about 10 lbs and recoil is about like a 3" 12 gauge shell with no muzzle jump thanks to the heavy barrel contour. The group in the picture is my first group shot at 100 yards. Looks like a winner to me!

    Chas1,
There is a picture which you may or may not be able to see depending on restrictions on your computer . You might try a different computer if you are not on your home pc.

Sambo3006, thanks for responding, got it now. Nice looking rig. Just curious, how far out can you shoot it before you run out of elevation?

    Thanks, Silvertip-co!

    trueblue,
I hope to make it to Africa some time but until then I reckon it will work just fine on deer or hogs or what ever.

    Chas1,
I don't plan on shooting it at a distance that I would have to click for elevation. That's what my 300 RUM is for.:D The 416 is flat enough that I should be point blank out to about 250 yards with the slightly high 100 yard zero at 2400 fps.

Here's what it did after I discovered a loose front action screw.lightbulbI had to readjust elevation as it was hitting 6" high after tightening the action screw. Looks like it is a shooter.

That's one heck of a big game rifle. I also like the 416 Rem Mag, it really packs a punch!
