That's too funny!
I'm already counting the days till May 1st...Of course LONGRANGEHUNTING.COM forum is probably not the best place to go looking for fanatical turkey hunters either...LOL:)

Well it looks like there are at least 2 of us here!

I'm sure there are more but if any one wants a challenge that is into small targets at
long distance try shooting Turkeys in the neck at 200+ yards.

It is very good practice for taking long shots on big game and it will also test your equipment
shooting sub 1'' moving target at more than 200 yards.

To hit the head you and your rifle "MUST" be capable of less than 1/2 MOA @ 200+ the neck
is much smaller and the rifle should be capable of 1/4 MOA accuracy.

Where I hunt turkeys they become wary after a few days and hold up at ranges well beyond
shotgun range and the accurate rifle is the answer to this condition.

Turkeys have great hearing but, no external ears, field of vision about 270 degrees, see in color but don't see well at night. They can see movement almost a hundred yards away, poor sense of smell and not as easy to hunt as one would think.

I agree 100% but I'd add another 400yds to the distance they can pick up movement !!!!! At least if I'm hunting them !!

Highknob,

I worked a lot on my shotgun last year with chokes/loads...managed to extend my 40yd killing pattern out to 50yds. Course I've never attempted a shot past 37yds but should I ever NEED to it's better to know it's capable.

ONLY THREE AND A HALF MONTHS TO GO.

3-4 months will go by fast and when you get a couple you'll have to post some pics. Good luck hope ya get a bunch.

Will do! Looks like they're going to increase the limit here in Maine this year from two birds (1spr, 1fall) to 1 spring & 1fall bird and give us the opp. to buy a 2nd spring tom tag. Between here and Vermont that'll give me 6 birds for the freezer! Whoop, whoop!

That is sorta like -counting ( 6 ) birds before you get them isn't it.

Ya we want to see pics of them before they're plucked...so no fudging with any butterballs in the pic. Only kidding:)...my moneys on 264junkie getting all 6.

I like aiming highgun)
The way I see it....If I shoot for 6 and miss my goal by half I'm still eating a bunch of wild turkey!!! Most I've shot in a single year is 3 (between two states) but the way I see it the more I "could"shoot the less chance I'll have an excuse to stay in bed! I'm so addicted to those d*#n birds!:D

I usually hunt at least 2 states and sometimes 3 on a good year. I think in Va and Tn whick i hunt every year, the limit would be 7. I've never gotten all of them. It'd be a shame to not hunt every day available during the season anyway......lol.... i can't wait, about 60 days before Tn.
