So, how did we get to the solution that 1 percent of 640 = 6.4?

**Step 1:**As we know, a whole of something is equal to 100%. In this case, we want to find what 1% of 640 is. We know that 100% of 640 is, well, just 640.**Step 2:**If 100% of 640 is 640, then we can get 1% of 640 by dividing it by 100. Let's do 640 / 100. This is equal to 6.4. Now we know that 1% is 6.4.**Step 3:**Now that we know what 1% of 640 is, we just need to multiply it by 1 to get our solution! 6.4 times 1 = 6.4. That's all there is to it!
