I used a 280 to intermediately go down in two steps.
Life of brass is dependent upon a lot of things.
one of the main reasons I tend to use Lapua in general is uniformity of brass and necks when new.
When you neck down from 30-06 you will want to most likely turn the necks....
I am not sure that all told it is worth the extra.
I had pretty good life out of Federal 30-06 necked down as well.
However I do anneal regularly and as such, unless I get crazy hot loads, most brass may outlast my shooting tenure.
