Krag 30-40 Ammo Needs

Does anyone know where I could find some factory ammo for the Krag 30-40 that I just picked up? Seems like everywhere I look, no one has it available. I did purchase some dies and brass, but would like to fire a few factory rounds though it first. Thanks
Fyi - If you are loading for the original bolt action they were meant to use a 220 gr. round nose bullet. The left front of the magazine is designed to cam the bullet nose up and into the chamber. Most of the factory ammunition I've come across are spire points. While you can use spire point bullets the exposed lead tip of that style will suffer as it feeds into the chamber. Also, the markings on the original ladder rear sight are calibrated for the 220 gr. RN military load.

I still have my Dad's Krag he hunted with for decades.

A couple of pics of my buddy's 30-40 Krag single shot.
Please ignore the other items in the photos that don't belong with this rifle. I should have prepped the shot better.

I have a couple of them, One I built on a Lee Enfield and the other on a Martini action, Anyway use loads from a reputable reloading manual, As the US Krag has only one locking lug that has been known to crack. I bought some brass from Grafs last year that was branded "Grafs" I've only got 2 loads on them now, So I can't tell you how long they are going to last.

OP, I don't have a link handy but there is a 30-40 Krag web site/forum ... you may want to check with those folks.

I cannot get to it from the internet that I'm connected to but my email history says it is here: https://kragcollectorsassociation.com/

If you find anything useful, let me know as I'm out of it myself.

I bought a 30 40 krag that was a military issue for 65 bucks, has the side door on it. Easy to throw in 4 rounds, slap it shut and go to shooting. I have 5 loaded boxes of 30/40 krag ammo and haven't shot it in a while, I also have dies so I can load my own if I want to

My grandfathers saddle gun on the ranch. It was a ranch tool and did bring home several elk and deer for dinner. That was back when animals were much bigger and small groups were not required.

I was hoping for a price on the ammo, it would have probably been less than $2. I remember the ammo box being in our gun cabinet from when I was 12 in 1969.
That gun and I had a regular visit LOL
Great character.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for info guys. Can't pick one up for that price anymore. They are apparently few and far between, and outrageously priced.
