I shot at 1000 yards for the first time a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only long range rifle is a Savage 110 High Country in 6.5 PRC so I had been looking for another rifle and bought the Havak. I’ll get it cleaned up and determine my OAL with 143 grain ELD X bullets and get loaded up. Probably be a couple weeks before I can shoot it and get my loads worked up. Hitting a steel plate at 1000 yards is more fun than I thought.

Congratulations! IMHO, Seekins makes some really good stuff. To climb the ladder you will need to spend a good deal more.

This was the dirtiest barrel I’ve ever had on a new rifle.

Well supposedly that rifle sports a Rock Creek 5R barrel. I wouldn't be worried about a few dirty parches from the start. Could just be the chamber cut. After 100 rounds is should be settled in no matter what and accuracy should last a while between cleanings. I've seen a lot of Savage barrels that look way worse than that that ended up shooting great.

I’ve got a seekins havak bravo 6.5 prc and it’s a great rifle. Working on loads and found sweet spot - 57.8 h1000, 147gr eld- 2970 FPS avg, sd 1.4. Five shot groups in 20 mph cross wind 100 yards. Really happy with progress now on to long range test with more of this load.

I wouldn’t worry about the barrel clean up- Seekins makes a great rifle. I’ve got a Havak PH1 in 6 Creedmoor. Here’s the first 4 shots (100 yards) down the tube with factory ammo. I didn’t even bother to clean before hitting the range the first time.
