So I have zero experience with black bears. I've been lucky enough to see a few in the wild here in SW Va. I just got this piece of property and have had at least one, but it looks like two different ones to me, show up.
So help me out.....do you see the same bear or different ones. And can you tell me if My visitor(s) is a boar or a sow??? I've seen zero evidence of Cubs.

Guessing here.
Bear 1 looks male. Last photo and in Muddy Cam, standing up to reach feeder, looks like penis sheath there between legs, but not sure.
Bear 2's ears look wide apart and small, but it appears too thin to be a male.
Unknown bear looks to be female - narrow face, thin legs, but seems awfully tall.

Agree. I think you've got two, a boat and a sow. There might be a third (sow) on one of the NV shots. Looks like a shooter… yummy!

Definitely 2 different bears and like stated maybe a 3rd. Bear 1 is a male most likely. The other 1 or possibly 2 are somewhat hard to tell as they aren't very big and showing any tell tale features yet.

What do you think the largest one will weigh? I love seeing them, and would really like to take one with my bow....or rifle really. But they can disrupt the deer hunting to a degree. The bucks don't mind them as much, but a Mama Doe isn't as tolerant.
Anyway, I'm curious if I'm in the ballpark on my weight guess of the biggest one.

I would guess he is probably close to the 275-300lb range. Black bears eat way more fawns that many people think. I had a discussion with a game warden just last month and he advised killing bears if you want to see more deer/fawns.

P7M13 is correct. There are 2 bears. The 1st one is 250-300lbs
the second one looks battle tested, likely 350 to 400lbs
I've seen a few. That's my guess

I second CAHUNTER's response. There was an article in Quality Whitetails mag reporting a study on fawn predation by one of the state wildlife departments (Delaware?), and the number of fawns killed by black bears was surprising.

I'm thinking it's 3 bears. You got the big boar and then the younger leggy looking boar and then one pic of a good sized sow with a smaller head and pointy ears. She's fat and definitely not the same as the other two boar. My two cents
