When I finally 'Googled' the right thing, I got lots of pictures of these types of bases, some of them Redfield (which is what the original optic was). The other thing I learned (getting smarter every day) was a little more about Mauser actions, which this rifle has. I think that's what the "FN" stamp on the ring base is in reference to, a 'FN Mauser', which may be the type on this rifle.

FN stands for Fabrique Nationale and that's in Belgium.

Here's some history and it probably pertains to your action or at least it is a good starting point for research.
