Near as I can remember the PSS got a less than sterling review by someone in PS magazine in the early 90s. I bought a wood stocked, heavy barreled 700, in 308, thinking they were all the same. It was not accurate with anything I loaded for it. As an aside that gun with that stock kicked the bejeebus outta me. I changed to a Hunter Gun stock and it tamed down. Pretty much what Remington puts on them now
