Introducing the Absolute Hammer

The 143 hammer hunter was running 2958 fps everything else was 150gr. and 168gr. I would have to look up velocities to be sure on them
 
I have a 280ai 22" proof 1:8 twist that I get 3150 with the 143HH w/RL23. That's with the suppressor on. I have 200 of the 155AH on hand to try but I do not have any RL16. But I do have a bunch of the VV powders (150,160, 165, 540,550,555,560) I was thinking of trying 550 - what do you think would be a good starting point? - 56-57? It'll be with peterson brass, CC250, with a crimp. Took my a while to read all 59 pages!

I think you are right on with the n550. Looking forward to your results.
 
Has anyone shot any 22 caliber Absolute Hammers, yet?
If so, in what chambering and what velocity did you see?

I have a Remington 788 in redundant .308 that would be neat-o in 22-243 or something along those lines

43.0: 2,903

Accuracy, ES and SD we're outstanding. I'm getting 2,977 with 43.5 RL16 and 130 Berger AR hybrid so grain for grain, I'm not getting any velocity increase with the lighter 123 AH. I will be shooting the above loads with a crimp to see if there is a difference.

I tried the 123 AH with some faster powders in my 26" 6.5 CM T/C Encore. I loaded six rounds at .3 grain intervals ending at Quickload "near max" load for my specs. Results as follows:

IMR 3031: 3,031 fps @ 39.2 grains with no pressure signs. Blown primer @ 39.5 grains (3,052 fps). QL showed pressure of 61,700 for 39.5.
RL10X: 3,056 fps @ 35.0 grains with no pressure signs.
Varget: 3,022 fps @ 41.5 grains with no pressure signs.
CFE223: 3,178 fps @ 44.9 grains with no pressure signs. Blown primer @ 45.2 grains (3,208 fps). QL pressure for 45.5 grains was 58,883.
RL15: 3,174 fps @ 41.9 gr with no pressure signs. Blown primer @ 42.2 grain (3,205 fps). QL pressure - 60,365.

CFE223 and RL15 produced 200 fps speed bump with no pressure over the 130 Berger and 131 HH. I used QL to estimate max as published load data is not widely available for some of these powders with this bullet weight range. I recognize that I was pushing and in one case (RL 15) exceeded published book data, but none were indicated by QL to exceed SAAMI pressure for this round. My goal was to find pressure and I found it. I just did not expect to find it this way. Reading pressure can be problematic with the Encore, but I typically get minor primer cratering or flattening when I'm getting near max, but that was not the case today, I will shooting groups with CFE223 (44.9) and RL15 (41.9) tomorrow.

Looking at comparable load data for the creed, most data shows varget running close to the same charge as cfe223, and the same pressures. You may want to try moving up with your varget charge.
 
That is a good velocity increase. My only worry is with both powders (RL 15 & CFE 223) are both very temp sensitive. Did you run out of case space with the Varget?

I have more case capacity with Varget. I may try moving up in .1 grain increment Do I don't get anymore nasty surprises.

you might try imr 4166 should work well in that combo

midsouth shooters supply had it yesterday I have never had any trouble getting it
