Always been a fan of 7mm "magnums". Have a M54 Schultz & Larsen in 7x61 S&H and a box of 275 H&H ammo.
So when two 280 Ross sporting rifles appeared at auction, I made two lowball bids as they usually are quite expensive.

Well I won them BOTH !

Then the fun began as they arrive next week. C&H4D had dies in stock. Buffalo Arms has reformed cases and Midway had .287 bullets.

The 280 Ross was no slouch reaching 2900 fps with a 140 gr bullet in 1906 ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.280_Ross

As with all auctions the bore condition is the great unknown. But as I did with my mint K31 with a bad bore, JES can cure things. It's now a 35x55 which lands midway between a 358 Win and 35 Whelen.

It appears that some Leupold top mount can be adapted to work.

Old rifles are fun !

I am jealous. Being left handed really limits the number of neat old guns that are of use to me but I can sure appreciate the beauty of what they are.
