in order to save bullets and powder

i am sighting in a T/C encore 209x50 muzzleloader and i am wondering at what range should i start with my practice shots and for example if i start at 25 yd. where should my poi be (3"high) or should i start at 50 yd . poi ? 2"high .. my farthest shot should be arround 100 yd. unless i see a big ole' buck a little farther out.. what is everyones suggestions.............thank's in advance

depends on bullet weght and speed but in most cases if you are 2" high at 50 you will be pretty close to dead on at 100

This is my experience as well in sighting in three muzzle loaders this year. Dead on at 50, two to three inches low at 100 and 6-8 inches low at 150.
