Do you guys atleast know if you were getting decent speeds? Now I'm nervous to even touch this stuff
Imr 4955 in 6mm creed?

Yeah it was about the same as I'd expect from the 4831 it's designed to improve upon. 208s at 2850 or so.
I wouldn't be nervous and hope you get a good load worked up...I'd just recommend moving up in increments of less than 1 grain. I realize most precision shooters do and I do to with smaller casings but didn't in my .300 win.
just start low and go up slow.

I was using Peterson brass 142smk and that is a low capacity brass so that was part of the issue. My speed was way out of line with the starting charge. 2 grains off was over 2750 but not over 2800. I did a ladder of 3 rounds ea starting .5 higher and was over pressure in the 2830 range but I pulled the whole ladder after dropping 2 of 3 primers. Same brass 147s and rl26 ran 2855 just below a swipe and I competed at 2830 to 40

I run 43gr of 4831SC behind 115DTACs and getting 2927FPS in my 6CM. It's a target round using Nosler brass if that helps. Work up to that load. 1:7 twist in 26" barrel.
I bought an 8 pounder 4955 and a couple pounds of StaBall 6.5 of thinking it would be great for my 6 Creedmoor with heavies. I haven't cracked it open yet as I've been using RL16, RL23 and H4350. I think I'll wait until the heat of summer before I even play around with the 4955.

I just saw this thread now but I'll chime in, I am using IMR 4955 as a replacement for H4831 in 300 win mag R-P brass and CCI magnum primers. I just ran some pressure ladders in this 35 degree C weather with a 3 different combos.
178 AH loaded to 3.650" (seated to 2nd groove) both powders showed 3200 fps as the top safe load H4831 took 80 gr to do that and IMR 4955 took only 74.5
168 Hornady BTHP loaded to 3.450 showed 76gr as the top and making 3250 fps
Now I will load down until I find accuracy. Hopefully....
In my limited experience it seems that 4955 makes about the same speed as 4831 but takes a few less grains to do it and slightly lower case fill, with 4955 once I started seeing pressure signs they built rapidly where 4831 is the opposite. Seems like it will be a decent powder for the lighter bullets in 300 win mag but with heavier bullets I think I would look elsewhere.
