Hi guys, anybody use the new IMR 4166 or 4451 powder in a 30-06 or a 6.5 C.M.? These powders are supposed to be temperature insensitive, any thoughts?

Have plans to run some of the 4451 through my 30-06 this weekend along with some I4350 and I-4064. Rifle is a basic, run-of-the-mill Mod. 70 w/ 22" barrel. Tupperware stock.

Just remember, NEVER shoot the donor!

If ya would, let me know how that works for ya. I've been looking at that powder for a while now.

Being temperature insensitive, is a function of design parameters; it is not a universal property.
Varget was designed around ball ammo, in the 308. For the 145-155gr bullets it is. Use it in the 223, and while you can get very fine accuracy; it is much more temp sensitive than H335.

Got started loading the truck to head for the range, then the rains came. Maybe this coming weekend.
