What "pistols" are you using during firearms deer season in Illinois?

Seems like a lot of guys are using 300blk out AR pistols. But i'm looking to use something more interesting.

What is the popular method to make an AR pistol into a "single shot"?

Everyone I know uses a "bob sled" magazine to make an AR into a single shot.
And the IL DNR likes that solution? If so that's quick and easy. Technically it doesn't convert the pistol itself to a single shot, just the mag. I was assuming I'd have to remove a glass tube or at least use a bullet button type deal to lock in a single shot mag.

Yea sir, it causes the bolt to lock to the rear after firing a single shot. Requiring the shooter to place a new round in the chamber and send the bolt home. Same a a single shot bolt action.

I'm going to build a 350 legend upper. Meets the straightwall pistol requirements, better ballistics than 300blk.

Absolutely. I have a 450 bushmaster I will probably use, I am also thinking about building a 30 Wagsal. It was a round developed for Illinois pistol requirements. Has very similar ballistics to the 308 win.
