Identify this round!

A buddy of mine sent me these pictures said that his father in law has like 1500 of them in the garage and he has no clue what they are....seeing if y'all could help out

Thanks guys. It looked bigger in the picture he sent me, I figured it was a military round just didn't know what kind.
It probably is a 30-06. And I will see if he can put it up next to a round or a tap measure, he doesn't reload so he doesn't have calipers

When I was a kid my dad had ammo cans full of those. I agree they look like 30-06 military loads...we just used them as "pocket rockers" to scare elk and deer out of aspen pockets.
 
Looks perhaps Berdan primed? Could it be something close to .30-06 like, say 8mm Mauser or 7.5 Swiss, or are other's eyes better than mine at reading that headstamp?
 
Probably not if indeed .30-06 and corrosive for sure regardless. Just that the OD of the primer looks a bit large for a std large primer. Could be the crimp is misleading my poorly calibrated eyeball.
