I started with a 308 Win, and after thinking I'd move on to other cartridges I'm still shooting it.

Luv dem tree08's...

I'd like a 1-10" or faster. But then again I'm wondering is a 30-06 with 26" barrel would be mo betta for heavies like a 215gr Hybrid. Hehe see my problem ;)
When first used in military service and for quite some time after the 30 06 was commonly fed 220gr bullets and was claimed to be a 2000 yrd gun even back then

Well I got a NF 20 MOA base for a really good price to help with a 14 MOA loss on my rifle. I think the exterior dimensions of the action account for the 14 moa loss. In any case I may have to re due my loads. I was shooting at a steel coyote at 1180 yards and instead of around 17 mils come ups it only took 14.5 mils. I had 6-9 mph winds zipping through the canyon but that shouldn't account for the change. In any case it will be fun to test some more lol.

This one doesn't seem to like the heavies. I had an older Ruger tanger with a heavy barrel and it loved the 215s. Seated looong. If you can get them to shoot, the heavies turn the 308 on at distance. I just can't get myself to love light and fast. If I want to shoot close, I have a muzzleloader...

I have some 208 eldm's but am sitting on them for now. With this component shortage I'll shoot the more common lighter varieties for now. My range only goes out to 1230 yards if no one is there. I have blm land to go stretch out at but it's harder to find time to get out there right now :(

Old Ruger was pretty slow. 2479 FPS using H4350. 3.007" OAL with about .050" jump (throat was eroded a bit I suspect). Wanted temp stable powder, so didn't use RL17. Some folks have with good success.

Current barrel is 20" so still working with it to get what I want. CFE223 has been ok, but not stable.

I know MM had good luck with RL17, but like you I wanted a temp stable powder. My PSS is 1st gen with 1-12" and I'm at 2200 ft elevation so I'll save my 208 ELDM for my 30-06.

I do get curious what a 26-28" barrel and 1-10" twist will do with the 208-215 bullets. Either in a 308 win or 30-06.

With today's supply shortage, my heavies are going to the RUM...
Yup that makes the most sense. I keep battling with myself to step up to at least a 300 wsm or wm for the heavies. I already have 200 cases Fed Match for 300wm sitting for the past twenty six years lol.
