i just started reloading for my 243 vanguard 26" tube. im using once fired fed brass, 87 vmax with 43.4grs of h4350 cci primers at 2.64" col..sized case length was 2.42"

he is where i need help. i dont have a chrono so i zeroed at a 100. (three shot group was .5") then went out to 300 to check the drop.

i shot 4 rounds at 300, two shots were 7.5" low 1 3/8 apart. the other two were 10" low 3 3/4" apart.

using my ballistic app. i adjusted the MV until it showed 8.75" drop at 300. 3320fps it what i ended up with.

im shooting at sea level.

how far off are my estimates.

i plain on finding the max col of my rifle next and start adjusting seating depth.

From what I remember about my .243 win & the 87V-max (grood bullet btw). I was in the 3100-3200 area. Your estimate of 3300+ sounds a little on the hot side, if you have the chance, get your drop at 400 or 500. That should provide better drop date to plug into your PDA.

That should provide better info, you might send a couple groups & gather all the info you can. You're pretty close, just need a little more "tweeking". I think you will find your initial estimate to be a smidgen high.

I don't mean to bring a dead post back but it's still on topic... Shooting the same load as above only with 2.700 col. Same 100 yard zero. Went shooting yesterday and found it took. 4.5 moa to hit this rock at 344. The first shot was 4.25 moa and was a little low left. I put on more click up and held on the right edge.i heard the next shot hit and saw the peaces flying after the gun setteled. I'm happy with the accuracy. I think I'm in the 3050-3100 range.
