Randy, It's not a Rem. 788. They did make a 788 and I'd like to try 1, but this is basically a Rem. 700 with a cheap stock. This one says "Sportsmamn 78" on it. By they way, most people haven't heard of the 78. I don't think it was made but a couple of yearsYes. 788 has birch stock and says 788 on the receiver
The Sportsman 78 is an outstanding action to use for rebarreling or building a custom rifle. I have used those actions to make a number of custom rifles. They all seemed to be darn straight actions and all rifles shot below MOA.Randy, It's not a Rem. 788. They did make a 788 and I'd like to try 1, but this is basically a Rem. 700 with a cheap stock. I know all about junk, I’ve 50 years worth of crap that’s to good throw away, biggest problem is it’s 50 years of crap to sort threw, I live in California however my beliefs are not grounded in California politics, you’re word and check are good enough for me, the only I might be short of is 110 gr 257 Nosler Accubonds, I can’t use them in California and since I didn’t draw any of the tags I wanted I have another year to come up some,Is it chambered? Send me your info to my pm and I'll get you a check. My personal check ok? Don't ship it till it clears or I guess I could get my wife to get me a Postal Money Order. The way things have been going my check might be more reliable, haha. Tell me how much for shipping and I'll add it. Label it as "tubing" right? I wouldn't want some Karen bending it to 45* between a mail truck and a loading dock. Many thanks. Paul
P.S. if there's anything that pertains to loading that you need let me know. I've been accumulating "junk" for over 40 years. I see a use for everything and keep it just in case. Hoarder?????
