I'am just starting to get into longrange hunting, and am new to this forum, was wondering if my 280AI was a good choice, it is built on a Remington action has a Douglas premium barrel 26" with a H&S precision stock, a timney trigger set at an even 1lb no creep no travel brakes like a glass rod. now i have shot this setup at 1,000yrds with a 160 barnes bullet and have shot 4 groups that miced at 3.885, 4.939, and the best was 3.066 5 shots. i have shot varmints at ranges from 40yrds to 800yrds with my 220 Swift, i was just wondering if this is a good starter setup for deer?

thats fantastic shooting 4 sure, the 280ai is a heck of a great round. that round was the 1st bean-field caliber, but i'd say you knew that allready. welcome to the forum!
regards jjmp
