Howa .338 edge?

Thanks for the details Kirby!! I've tried like a mad man to get info on why some smiths will build the 338 Norma like hot cakes on a R700 type receiver then completely refuse to touch a 338 Lapua. Understanding that the case diameter and chamber pressure should produce equal bolt thrust but what part does case taper play in this? I've read some of the things Ackley did with the 30-30 AI and 250-3000 AI and it seemed to me that case taper could have a lot to do with how one cartridge of similar size could produce significant pressure signs while another does not, are some smiths just relying on case taper to stay just inside the safe zone even thought there is the potential of the same bolt thrust between the Norma and Lapua?
