How much brass for hunting rifle?

Greyfox,

The other day I started to buy 100 Norma 6.5 Creedmoor brass from Midway. I noticed it had about 3 1/2 stars. Right next to it was Hornady with 4 1/2 stars so I bought that one instead. Never gave it a thought about developing loads with different brands of brass before you take the plung and buy a hundred or two. I like it.

I really don't have much to add to the advice given but for guns I shoot seldom I think 50 cases would suffice. However, if you shoot hot loads, that won't get you very far before the primer pockets wear out or some other weak link shows up. I do more shooting when I reload for a rifle than when I don't have the setup for one. For insurance, 100 would be my minimum.

If you are buying Win or Rem brass, it is low cost so get lots. If buying premium brass, then you could get by will less.
