How many shoot 260 rem for long range and what bullet and rifle do you use ?

I have a 260 with a 24" PacNor barrel shooting the 143 ELDX with H4831SC. Averages right around 2900fps and my son has taken numerous deer from 50 to 250yds with one shot drops and no tracking.

I shoot it out to 1200 on steel and its a very consistent and fun gun to shoot!

I shoot a Sig Sauer SSG 3000 with McMillan stock and 26" Custom Benchmark Barrel in 260 Remington. In the process of developing a load, using H4350 and Berger 140gr Hybrid Target but have been running 130gr Prime Match ammo, which I have found to be the most consistent commercially produced ammo.

I've shot a 308 for hunting forever and decided to go with a 260 for Long Range stuff. Currently working on load development myself. Testing Reloader 19 and H4350 powders with Lapua brass. I like the 142gr Sierra Match Kings but everyone will have their own opinion on what they like. I had a custom rifle built by Snowy Mountain Rifles here in MT, decent wait on the build time but totally worth it. Really love the gun probably my favorite by far. I will say it is a beast of a gun, wouldn't want to lug it around the mountains but I didn't have it built for that either. Good luck deciding!

I had a Savage Palma action and put a 1.10" Brux 30" barrel with the Palma stock modified with thumbhole. 1-8 twist and ran 129 gr. Polymer tip and custom copper bullets with good brass and BR primers with H4831SC. Made many great shots 700 to 900 yards and a fantastic 1580 yd in WY on a PD.
One hole at 100 yds. Best long range rifle I owned until buddy made offer I couldn't refuse.

I am using the .260 AI, Criterion Match 28", H4831, RL-23, RL-26, 140 Hybrid, 140 ELDM, 147 ELDM, Nosler 140 AB, 140 Competition Match. Savage 12 action.

I won't have anything longer than a 24 inch barrel on a hunting rifle and prefer 22 or less. Practice more and that 50-100 fps isn't that big of a deal on a hunting rifle. Sounds like your all around best option is a 260 ai. Most of all I wouldn't try to push it to what a 264wm can do.

I have a 260ai, LAW action, 25.5" Broughton barrel and am running 124g Hammer Hunters at 3130fps with H4350 and Federal 215m. 1/2 MOA all day long.

Savage 110 in 260 shoots factory rem core loc 140s for hunting.
Accuracy International shoots factory 140ELDM
Both with a 24" barrel.

I had a 26" .260 Rem for years. Pushed a 140 HVLD @ 2910fps over H4350. Great deer rifle.

My daughter shoots a 6.5SLR, and runs a 22" pushing a 130 AR Hyb at 2901 (or 2925 suppressed). She has taken some great game animals with it, and shoots it well past 1000 during the off season.

I do not believe you will be close to .264WM speeds no matter what length barrel you run. There is not replacement for displacement. The .264WM just has too much more case capacity to catch with a .260.

The 264 win mag is a different league than the 260 Remington and the only way to get close to the 264 WM is with light bullets. 120 and 130 will get within 100 ft/sec in the 260 AI, but if you want to shoot 150's up, there is no comparison.
