I am trying to figure out what model 70 I have and when it was made too? Winchesters records had a huge gap and my serial number was in that gap. How do I tell these things?

If you describe the action and post the serial number we might be able to help.
All of mine are from New Haven and are 'Clasics' in stainless, from early 90's to late 90's.
Mine are all CRF model 70's and the serial numbers start with G.

Cheers.

The bolt has the small extractor that just broke btw not the two big claws. It is stainless, with a 26" barrel, had a floorplate with three screws, and was on a sportster stock but I recently changed the stock. The serial started with G212

Sounds like you have the push feed post 64 model. The extractor is small and located next to one of the two lugs with a small clip just inside the bolt face. It broke because it most likely worn out. I had to replace my extractor pieces in my push feed as well. Take it to a gunsmith. Easy repair.
