The Hornady OAL gauge (formerly stoney point) is a really good tool. The standard cases Hornady makes to fit each standard rifle caliber work great, but they don't make these cases to fit wildcat cartridges.

Can anybody tell me what size hole to drill and what thread size Hornady uses to make a wildcat case to fit the Hornady OAL gauge? My standard tap and die set threads don't seem to match. Has anybody tried to make their own OAL cases for this gauge?

The thread size is 5/16" x 36. I believe the drill needed is an "L".

I've made them by hand with a drill press and jig but if you've got a lathe then that's even better.
