Hornady A Tip Bullets

[Short Case]

Just curious has any one try one of Hornady A Tip bullets for a hunting bullet
I know it is sold as a match bullet but it wouldn't be the first time a match bullet
was used for hunting.

I have shot them but haven't taken game. I have a load for the 135 atip. Hopefully I will see how it does. There are people on here who have taken game successfully with them. There will be people who won't recommend it.

Here are two deer taken with the a tip first is a 166 a tip out of 7mm-08 2600 mv deer was shot at 100 yards laying down first two are entrance side and second two are exit side he was quartering away very last two pics are 6.5 prc with 153 a tips at 2900 bullet went in about 2-3 inch's then developed the whole in lungs were bigger then exit hole great results I will still keep using

My son shot a cow elk at 324 yards with the 153's out of a 6.5 prc. It performed great. Slightly quartering towards. Made mush out of both lungs through the far shoulder and found bullet inside hide on far side. She flopped over 20 yards. I finished off a wounded mature whitetail buck at about 30 yards with the same rifle. I jumped him up and had less than a second to get on him and take the shot. He was running away, unfortunately the bullet entered his right hind quarter, went through him the long ways. I found the bullet under the hide when I scun him out under the hide in his neck. I was impressed with both but there was a lot of weight shed from the bullet, especially the close buck.

110gr 6mm atip from a 6prc @3370 mv. Quarter sized exit. Deer ran about 40 yards.

Match Bullets have so many different meanings in today's bullet industry, I feel each bullet manufacturer has a different definition of "match." ThankYou guys for sharing your results

I shot a big whitetail with 140 Atip out of a pretty hot loaded Tikka 6.5x55. First shot at 120yrd he started running lateral to me, headed for cover. I worried he was wounded or I missed. Fired a second round into him at a run. He stopped then crumpled shortly thereafter.

On dressing, initial bullet was 2" from second shot. Not bad wing shooting at 120 yards. Both would have been deadly, but missed his heart and just damaged lungs. Exits were around 2" each. Lungs were full of blood.

Dunno. I did not get my best accuracy from the bullet. Doing better in the Tikka now with 143 eld-x. So much more velocity than my creed and accurate too in a 6.5lb gun.
