Hornady 200gr ELD-X loads for the 30-06

Thanks. I am at 5000 ft in Joburg. I am using a burris 3 ballistic 3 so the scope calculates that for me

Hi guys,
I was at the range today and got the burris 3 on the bull at 750 yards with 200 eld x at 2740 fps but when i went to 500 yards it was 4" high.
Can anyone give me some ideas of what i can do to get this right

I'm not clear on what you are trying to accomplish?

If you have the dope for 750, and know the POI at 500, what is the problem? You should be able to fit the curve solution with your zero, 500, and 750 data. If it doesn't track well, make sure your scope height is correct, but that error won't be huge. The worst that happens is you carry a dope card till you can have a turret made. Sometime these errors are caused when the click value isn't exact. This usually is a constant gain error, not a fit error.

I have noticed the ELDX 200gr performs very well at 30-06 velocity but when you get too 300 Win Mag velocity the bullet does not perform that well seems the jacket is too soft for higher Vel. Mag levels.

We have not experienced that with the 178 ELDX in 300 WM or the 162 ELDX in 7mm mag. Both perform flawlessly on elk sized game. Multiple 1 shot kills at 200-500 yards.

Reloader 17 is great in the 30-06 with heavy bullets
I have always been a IMR 4350 @ 52.0 with 200gr Part but yes RL 17 being double based it sure supercharged my 30-06.
I re-chambered my .30-06 to .30 Gibbs, and below is the result out of 24" 1:10" using RL17. Still playing around thus far ...
I finally made it to the range today and played with my LabRadar.

190 Berger VLD, OAL = 3.340", CBTO = 2.667", WLR, just trying some powder already open and not after any accuracy, and no seating depth goal at the moment, maybe on the next round.

5-shot series
60.0 H4831SC: AVG = 2558, ES = 20, SD = 10
60.5 H4831SC: AVG = 2577, ES = 45, SD = 24
61.0 H4831SC: AVG = 2599, ES = 29, SD = 13

4-shot series
56 RL17: AVG = 2779, ES = 28, SD = 13
57 RL17: AVG = 2806, ES = 15, SD = 6

All groups well within 1 MOA.
Both still have room for powder, no pressure signs
RL17 shows promise but still have quite a few powders to try and not sure if I'd stick with 190 Bergers.

Has anyone tested the .308 200gr ELD-X Hornady bullet in the 30-06 it would be a great bullet if loaded to 2700fps.
Haven't tried the 200, but have a load dialed in for the 212 ELDX that 2 30-06s I load for seem to like (Winchester XPR and Barrett Fieldcaft). Superformance was faster, but Reloder 16 was more accurate and way better SDs.
Specs - Reloder 16, 58.2gr, 2625fps, Norma and Nosler brass have similar results, SDs in the single digits, 3/4 MOA or less out to 600 yards. Play with jump on these ELDXs...makes a big difference.

200 Gr ELDX

RL 17 @ 53.5

Fed 210M
WW Brass
2700 FPS

3.360" COAL
great bullet for the 30-06
weight retention of bullet much better in 30-06 than in 300 WM.
