Can anyone tell me that has used Retumbo for .338 Lapua loads what the starting and max. grains of powder are listed in the Hodgden reloading manual.
I am thinking about trying some Retumbo with 250 grain Sierra Matchkings and 250 grain Lapua Scenars. I also would like to try this powder with 300 grain Matchkings. I assume that the max. loads are compressed? If anyone can help me out I really would appreciate it.

I have been doing some shooting with Retumbo in my 338 Yogi (338 lapua imp) with the 300g SMK seams to be a good powder my case. I agree with dwm go to hodgdons site and they have the data for the standard 338 lapua.

I worked up a load with retumbo for .338LM using the 300MK's. I'll tell you my H1000 numbers for comparison.

best accuracy loads
H1000 92.0g 2780fps 26inch barrel
Retumbo 91.9g 2800fps 26inch barrel
seated on the rifling.
With H1000 the bolt is just slightly sticky.
With retumbo less pressure signs. Couldn't take advantage though, since accuracy went away above the number listed. I actually found H1000 a little more consistant.
Best groups are about .6" at 200yds.

Retumbo From 89.6 grains to 94.6 grains
Federal 215 Primer

But I prefer:
Magnum From 89.2 grains to 101.0 grains
Federal 215 Primer
