I'm selling my two main hunting rifles as I'm having a switch barrel hunter built to replace them both. This HCR 6.5x284 is the best shooting rifle I have, and I wanted to find a way to keep it, but need to free up the funds to pay for the new build, so somebody will be getting an excellent rifle at a great price.

Build Details...
Action: Rem 700 Long Action - Trued by HCR
Barrel: Benchmark SS #4 countour, 1:8 twist, fluted, 25" length
Muzzle: Threaded 5/16x24 with Thunderbeast CB30 brake
Stock: Manners EH3 Mini Chassis BDL - Skim bedded for a perfect fit. Black.
Cerakote: All Metal Cerakoted Sniper Gray
Trigger: Rifle Basix - Set at 2lb.
Scope Base: EGW 20 MOA rail.
HCR Test Ammo: Nosler Trophy Grade 130 AB - Shot 0.206"
Weight as pictured: 7.6 lbs.

Rifle was $4050 when I had it built two years ago. I'm asking $2100 shipped/insured in a hard case to your FFL.

Today it's got 210 rounds on the barrel, and the rifle is in very good condition. With only a couple of minor marks/dings on the stock and barrel finish as you'd expect from a hunting rifle. The marks that I found were not something I could even get to show up in pictures.

Accuracy: During load development I focused on two bullets. The 140 Berger Elite, and the 143 ELDx. Everything I tried would shoot 0.5 MOA or better, and the best loads were in the 0.2-0.3 MOA range, which is the limit of my ability to shoot tight groups. Lots of people say their rifle will shoot half MOA because they shot a couple of three shot groups under a half inch. This one will do it every time whether the bore is cold, warm, whatever. It just shoots. I kept a few of the groups from load dev and have pictures below. I will include the load data for the 143 ELDx at 3000 fps that I settled on. The Bergers were a little more accurate, but I prefer the ELDx performance on game, and it was still stupid accurate. The picture of the larger target below was shot at 820 yds. This is a cold bore shot (low right) followed by 4 more shots. Overall group was 4.5 in. and the 4 shots after the cold bore went into 2.25 in. The smaller groups were shot at 100 yds during load dev.

Ammo: I will also sell 190 rounds (plus 10 pcs of brass) of ammo loaded for this rifle with the 143 ELDx load in Lapua brass. The brass was all fired once, then loaded again. The price for the 190 rounds, and 10 pieces of brass is $250 shipped.

Dies: I will also sell a set of Whidden 6.5x284 dies including the neck sizing bushing that are setup for this load. The price for the dies is $150 shipped.

Payment: I can do Paypal friends/family, or most other payments, as long as the funds have cleared before shipping.

Please PM me with any questions.

Thanks,
Jamie Bolseth

I have the same caliber from HCR and it does shoot lights out. Love the gun and have several rifles from HCR. You can't find a better built gun. Good luck with the sell. By the way what scope did you have mounted on the 6.5-284?

I just used a plain old Leupold 3-18x44 vx6. Nice, light, clear glass and simple optic.
