Helping a friend

I have usually shoot remington 700's. I am trying to help a friend start working on his first rifle. He wants to buy a stevens 200 in 223, but we were wondering if you can replace the barrel with any savage aftermarket replacement barrels (er shaw). Also are triggers and stocks and other parts interchangeable.

Yes he can, Stevens actions are exactly the same as Savage except they have no AccuTrigger. Triggers swap for the most part, some like the ones from SSS may take a little work/fitting. Stocks for a Savage will fit the Stevens as long as the hole spacing is the same. I believe there are 3 or 4 hole configurations out there now with the new centerfeed models.
