I have 2 savage rifles with accustocks both in 6.5 Creedmoor. Thinking of rebarreling one in something else. Looking for suggestions. Have thought of 284 win, 6 creed, 243 ai. Thanks
Doing research on 6 Creedmoor, I got dies etc. For 243, thought about 1:8 twist 243 throated for heavy bullets, seems about equal to 6 creed. If you want a 284 then I'd go long action or just single feed. I recently switched barrels from 6.5 creed to 6 creed for my prs rifle and I can say without a doubt that I like the 6mm creed better than the 6.5 variant. Faster, flatter, and less recoil. It's just a hoot to shoot.
Or go with a 6.5-284, now a factory cartridge.Probably just hunting, not too heavy a barrel. Researching 284, I know the mag length issues with short action but looks like I could feed 162 gr and not compress powder
243 and 6 creed are ballistic twins. The creed is alittle more efficient but if you have the stuff to load 243 then I'd stick with that. I'd go 7.5 twist personallyDoing research on 6 Creedmoor, I got dies etc. For 243, thought about 1:8 twist 243 throated for heavy bullets, seems about equal to 6 creed.
Awesome info!Peterson makes .243 Win brass in both SRP and LRP. I have some in LRP and it is excellent. Both cartridges are good choices.
These are facts.Let's be honest though, the creed is a much sexier looking round. Life's too short to shoot a ugly cartridge
