Hello all.
I know that a lot of our LRH friends have been following my health issues especially with my spinal cord surgeries and the sever 24/7/365 pain. I have had (5) Spinal Cord Operations in the past six years. Have ben to Orthopedic Surgeons, several Pain Specialists, and a Neurosurgeon. Have had three SCS did not work at all.
Every operation/procedure made the pain worse. I know of some other persons with this type of pain that did not go on with living. I have a strong FAITH with my Jesus and a STRONGER FAITH with Jill to ever leave. no matter how bad it gets. Trying to get the MAYO Clinic involved. I did have some insurance and I am a VietNam Era Vet
I will finish this story later.

Does anyone Khow contacts at the Mayo Clinic and can get me a foot in the door.
I am ready for my next group that We contribute to help veterans. 22Kill. I have no place left to go.

Not sure if you need some sort of referral, but your Doc should be able to get you connected with someone there. Below are the clinic numbers off the web. I'll reachout to my neurosurgeon and see if he has a direct contact. In the meantime, call the Minnesota clinic.

Mayo runs the Epic EMR system - I have a contact in their IT department - I'll check with them and PM you any info.

Thanks much. I need to start calling and sending letters out. Just wanted to see if anyone has had experience with the mayo Clinic.

This info may be outdated but when I was struggling with some health issues, I simply called the Mayo. They sent me a very detailed application, which started a lengthy review process.

I did not end up receiving treatment there, but it is worth the call and application to know that you tried every avenue to help yourself.

As noted above, I would certainly also look into any of the privately funded veteran programs that are out there. There are many.

I believe you can call them directly and then they set up a phone interview to see if you can get in. I'm sure it's different with every type of treatment. I do know lead time can be quite long as well. I can get some more information for you today

Up date to the above. You can fill out an online application and they get back to you or a better way would be to have you doctor refer you. I would not expect it to be a fast process however. Based off experience in my family at least.
Maybe do both to cover all aspects

There are times when surgery is the only option. But, surgery pain is harder to treat than non-surgical pain. I know I'm just a ray of sunshine about this. I also have neck and back issues. Plate and six screws in my neck and stenosis in all my lumbar vert. Plus transverse fracture of L1, healed on its own, hurt so bad in other places I didn't know it was fractured. I feel for you, as I know what you are experiencing. I pray you can find some relief. Do you have fusions? That may be an option.
