I am wanting to have a new rifle built and want an all around rifle for pigs and whitetail here in Texas to elk when I get the chance to finally go. I have a rem 700 long action that is getting all the action work and new trigger right now and it is currently a 7mm mag. I need help deciding if I want to re-chamber to a 7mag with a hart barrel or go with a 7stw . Some advice and direction would be much appreciated.

7mm RemMag is my absolute favorite whitetail and all-around caliber...

But! I have been a 7mm STW addict lomg before I ever owned one, and I bought mine new 12+ years ago. For LR pigs and whitetails (300+ yards away), the 7mm STW with Berger 180 Hybrids and 168 or 180 VLD's is a killing machine. Go for it!

7 mag is more than enough for deer and elk. Deer up to 900 to 1000. The stw is nice and strong but more expensive to shoot and harder on the barrel.
