Do Actions with a hanging trigger a lot a small amount of adjustment forward or backward on the action to give a little bit of adjustment to the shooter with their finger in relationship to the grip? or is the hanging part merely to help set sear engagement?

From my limited experiences there are some actions which have different hangers so that you can adjust the cocking piece to trigger handoff. This movement is so small that it doesn't benefit trigger finger position. Then there are trigger mechanisms which allow you to move the trigger shoe forward and backward to aid in lining up with your trigger finger.

ShtrRdy is exactly right you adjust the amount the firing pin is held back which makes it easier to close bolt so you don't upset the rifle as much in the bags so you stay on target better but you also need to make sure the firing pin has enough fall to ignite primer consistently to do what your looking for you need a trigger with an adjustable shoe good luck
