Hammer Hunter Load Data, (See page 1, Post 8)

Went out to the range this afternoon to test the 68.7gr charge weight with the 146 HH. (Data on post #200) I think I found the load for this rifle. Dont plan on shooting more than 500yds with this setup, so I think this load will do. Shot 10 rds. 5 for groups and 5 for velo data. Got an error on one of the velo rounds so I used another one from the group rounds. Ended up using 4 for groups. 5 shot velo data is as follows:
Avg: 3259 fps
SD: 3
ES: 9
With a .455" group. Overall I am pretty pleased with this group. Cant wait to smack something with it this fall.View attachment 285485

46.4 looks good but that's a really slow powder for that light of a bullet.
 
Yes, I was happy with the entire range from 45.6 to 46.4. I used h4831 because it is a powder I have plenty of. I had a choice of N165 or H4831 where I have sufficient powder. I COULD play with H4895 or imr4064 however i have less that 1/3 lbs of each.

N165 would be slower than H4831 so that wouldn't be what you want. I would do a ladder with the IMR4064 and see how that goes. Start at 39 gr.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have had bad experiences using 4064 I suspect due to variables related to load developing in 90+ Fahrenheit summers and shooting in Colorado 0-30 Fahrenheit.

Understood. I had the same thing happen with RL22, but in the opposite direction, developing in 50-60 degrees and shooting at 95°.
 
This is my first post on here and I had trouble finding a starting load but I did find pressure. Here's my contribution to the spreadsheet.

All charge rates were shot using my brand new 0 rounds fired and to break in my 26" 1:9 300nm. I used retumbo, 199HH, virgin lapua brass (no prep), cci lrm, and 20 thousandths jump for all loads listed below. I was also shooting at 2500ft and it was a 75* day. I also followed proofs break in procedure, shoot 3 clean, shoot 3 clean, shoot 5 clean

my buddies chrono is a cheaper one but usually reliable and I found it odd the velocities were a little stagnant for several charge rates unless the node was really that big but it's the data I've got. I'll be shooting for groups this weekend (7/24 or 7/25)

80gr - 2930
81gr - 3009
82gr - 2911 (I think the chrono messed up)
83gr - 3030
84gr - 3037
85gr - 3030
86gr - 3100 (very faint ejector Mark)
87gr - 3167 (light ejector Mark)
87.5gr - failure to fire twice (bad primer)
88gr - 3228 (light ejector Mark)
88.5gr - 3267 (ejector smear, heavyish bolt lift with a click at the top, primer cratered)

88.5 was definitely a little hot but really liked the velocity. I plan on shooting 5 at 87.5, 5 at 88 for groups this weekend and I'll report back.
