I volunteered to go down to Haiti and work for a while in my particular area of expertise. Don't know if or when or exactly how long I would be there. I was just wondering what some of you guy's would take with you. Of course firearms are out of the question however I'll likely procure something or have armed escort. I was more interested in the things I may not think of.

CRKT M-16 or M21

personal water purification system including reusable water bottles

Sunscreen , Roll Tide hat, shorts and t shirts :D

Dust masks. There can be a lot of asbestos in clearing away rubble.

Tetanus booster !!!! plus any others that you might need to update.

Not sure if I would know what to take myself but just wanted to say Good on you for volunteering. Thats a tough decision to make going down there. Good luck and I'm sure you will have a lot of story's when you return.

Bob I got all that except the dust masks, thanks. I never leave the house without my Benchmade AFCK - had it for at least 12 years, got a CRKT minimalist just for this. You know I'll be sportin' some U of A apparel.

anything you would take for a stay in the Alaska bush should be in your pack when you go. IE: RO style water bottle/pump, and enough "uncle Buc's" bug juice to take a bath in !, GOOD BOOTS, and the "extender wear" type underwear, also check the state dept. web site, as it has a section on Haiti relief workers. Good luck to you, I may see you down there.
