I've got a load worked up with IMR8133 for my 7mm STW but I've heard a lot of folks using H1000 in their STW. I was able to score 2 lbs of H1000 today. Any reviews on the powder used in your rifle vs others?

I'm running H1000, it is slower, but accurate.
I find Retumbo is pixie dust in my STW, RE25 got high velocity, but accuracy wasn't great in mine, which is a bummer…maybe it will do well with the 175g ABLR?

Cheers.

I shoot a 7-300 Weatherby I built for myself, almost the twin to the 7STW. I tried all the conventional suggested powders, went to Ramshot Magnum pressure signs went away, velocities went up 3390FPS, with 150 grain TTSX in a 26" Weatherby light weight barrel on a MK V action. Accuracy is good for a light weight hunting rifle 3/4" topped off with a Lecia scope.

Ruger #1, 175 gr Nosler Partition, H-1000, elk 575yds, workD perfect. Year before got a bull with 160gr Nosler Failsafe, also used H-1000, rifle groups are small and bullet speed in 3,000FPS neighborhood so, more than plenty and not much math involved, good luck.

rl25 in a stw with mid weight pills, h50bmg or similar with heavies... Rl22 may work fine with 140's if your rifle isn't happy with rl25... Ball powder like 8700 will do decently... h1000 is very happy in slightly less overbore rounds with heavy pills-- think 300win and 200-215 gr slugs.

RL22 is the stuff but she's crazy temp sensitive

Not really if you don't push it that hard. I run it with 165's in my 300win and she's right at 3200 in cold weather and 3250-3280 in hot weather... The only time she get's above 3250 is when it's hot enough I probably shouldn't be shooting the rifle anyway. I also run it with 140's in my kid's 7rem. We haven't even bothered to chrono the rifle cold/hot yet as we are at 68gr. If I were running 70'ish I would to see what the difference is, but it shoots same poi at 200 in cold or hot and it's a mid range rifle for him.
Rl powders start getting crazy when you push them to the edge in cool/cold weather; it you let them have that last couple % you will be safe and still be faster than most of the single base stuff out there.

About all I used in my 7STW for years and years for all kinds of Asian sheep summer and winter, low or mountain top with Barnes TTSX. Sorry but at work and don't recall the exact H1000 load but it was 3250 to 3300 fps, .5 to .75 MOA. Never felt the need to try anything else it worked so well. (maybe about 68.5 gr?) Used H1000 for all of my Tur and Marco Polo
