Wow! Thanks for the post, just ordered one for my wife's tikka 7mm-08. Have been looking for an upgrade for a while. Have to be honest, she's been happy with her Burris ballistic ret. out to 400yds. But Since I've been loading the ELDX 150's now I've been guesstimating 700yd hits on steel. Soooooo the upgrade is for her rifle but I really have been enjoying her tikka🤪
Which powder does your wife's '08 like pushing the 150 ELD-X? Thanks

It might work just fine. But a vx5 leupold is as cheap as I'm going these days. I am a huge believe in putting significant money into your optics. What that means varries person to person. I do not have any Schmidt benders etc but I have nightforces and high end leupolds that work great. I'll be steering clear of athalon

That's the big bean's normal attitude.
Reminds me of Big Stick on another site.
No attitude at all, I'm just trying to figure why your promoting and buying cheap scope as this is the advice you give to other folks

Simple rule: Spend + - 2X on glass as rifle cost.

$1400 rifle, $2500 scope.

I don't believe this to be true anymore, lots of great glass well under the price of a rifle to be had these days,

All I can say is I don't see military snipers using scopes <$1500.

Just don't think any cheap scope equals a Schmit, Swaro or Zeiss. I own plenty of all brands and there is a difference.
So your putting your new scope on a $150 rifle?

As BB says: "Remember.....Don't argue with stupid people,They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience"

So I'm done debating with him by following his advice.

"ignore"

And BB, I forgot this one, The +$3000 Zeiss I got "used" at Amazon for $1600. On my $700 243 AI.

When you don't spend 5 grand on a rifle you can buy good glass. (chuckle)

The Helos is going on a $250 22RF.

I'll make you the same offer I have made 5 others on this site, I have access up to 1 mile of shooting range while the crops are out, load up your high dollar stuff and a Rangefinder and head this way (as you obviously have plenty of money) and I'll let you pick which rifle you want me to shoot ( I have 3ea ) 2 with Bushnell Forge's and one with a Bushnell Nitro ( all second hand stuff ) 308, 25-06AI and 270 respectfully, You pick the distance, No Kestrel's, No spotters you call your own wind and then we will post the results here, I'll even switch to my Old SWFA straight 10X if it will make you feel any better, Indianapolis is the closest airport if you want to fly in, I'll pick you up there

Wow. I don't show up here often and it would seem I don't have the bankroll to compete with either glass or Boolit Launchers, but I can tell, for my advanced age, that there are those content to measure body appendages ad nauseam to the exclusion of quality rifle/glass discussions and their uses.
Must check back more frequently, it seems, before the site/page is disbanded for porno what with all the appendage measuring and snide comments.
(Insert cute deer chewing popcorn gif or Michael Jackson eating popcorn gif.)
It's getting testy it seems.
(As I grab some popcorn myself. LOL)

H380 has worked great with Berger 168 vld and now since early summer the ELD-X is grouping a little better, .75"
Still working where max load and accuracy combo will be. I'm at max for Hodgdon website data 45.5 gr @ 2748 vel. But out of a 20" barrel this load is only 2706 fps. I'm going up .2 grains at a time and now around 2750 FPS. And flattened primers only so far. The Hornady loaded ammo for it states 2770 I think and her Tikka did well with it. So just trying to get close to that.
