I was going to start loading for my buddies .270win, it's a savage 111 in stock trim and the gun will be used primarily for whitetail deer with a range up to 500yrds. I was wanting know what a good bullet, powder, and primer combo would be? Right now I have some H1000 that i'm using to load my .300wm with but I don't think it would be a good powder for his .270win.

I love Nosler Accubonds for deer. I would try the 130's and the 140's with a couple of different powders. Most 270 Win's like H4831 so that would be where I would start. If that don't work well IMR-4350 or H4350 would be my next step. I use RP cases, WLR primers with most of my loads.

Check the Hodgdon web site and you will find loads for H1000 in 270 Win, since you have the powder you could start with H1000 and your choice of bullets.

140gHPBT Sierra GameKing, 140g Accubond, 4831, H1000, 7828 powders, WLR primer.

130g Sierra GameKing, 130g Berger Classic Hunter,130g Swift Scirroco,130g Hornady Interbond-SST-Interlock, RL17, Magpro, 4831, 4350, etc.

165g Matrix, 7828,Magpro, H1000, 215 primer.

Lots of good stuff for a 270.

I mainly use about 54g IMR4831, a WLR, and the 140g Sierra HPBT on deer in the plain 270 Win..

55 grains of IMR 4350 with a 130

52.5 grains of IMR 4350 with 150's...

I like the Sierra 150 grain Gameking... 52.5 grains of IMR 4350 gives 2750 from my 22" Savage...

I shoot what hornhunter shoots, basically. 140 SST w/ about 56gr. of H4831. It has good ballistics and velocity out there aways, espcially with whitetails. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys, please keep them coming I like to hear multiple view points. I am though thinking about using 4350 or 4831 since I can use this in my .243win as well.
