Going to 1,000 - What do I REALLY Need?

I'm trying to acquire all of the necessities to get proficient at shooting to 1,000 yards. I'll list what I have and what I'm intending to get. I'm asking for additional suggestions on equipment and if there are any changes I need to make to what I have got. Thank you for your help.

What I have:
A capable rifle (7rm) with NF ATACR
Flatline Ops Anti-cant device - ***I do NOT have the Angle Degree Indicator***
Harris S bipod - both the tall and short models
Shooter App for Android
Leupold TBR 1,000 (To be upgraded)

What I intend to get:
G7 Rangefinder
Weatherhawk WM 100 windmeter
Flatline Ops Body Bag

My thoughts: My Shooter app will give me all of the weather inputs, so I don't see a need for a higher priced model of windmeter....should I rethink? I didn't get the angle degree indicator for a few reasons, the price (I've bought a lot lately), the added bulk, and my shooter app has an angle finder....should I still get one? I fully intend to have a G7 by late summer/early fall, but until then I can wheel off distances and set up targets so I can practice at known distances. I have shot at 800 before, but it was with very little wind. Imo, I faired well for the first time shooting that far, but I want to be able to consistently hit the targets at up to 1,000 which takes both practice and equipment. I can handle the practice, I just need help on what all equipment I need to do so...that's where you guys come in:). Please let me know your thoughts on what to change and what else I need. Thank you!

Sound like you got everything figured out. You will most likely have questions along the way as I did so feel free to get on here and ask them as you go. That's what is nice about this website. A lot of experienced LR shooters on here to help you out. Just one thing I would add so you are prepared. Buy equipment that will get you out past 1000 yds. Because once you start getting that down at 1000, you will want to push out further than that. And there is nothing better at getting you good at 1000 like shooting at 1200, 1300 and out to a mile.

The shooter app gives you nothing...you will need to imput EVERYTHING. Once you have the proper enviornental imputs, the Shooter App is AWSOME!!!! Now, I am not sure about the G7rangefinder...is it the one that gives you the corrected comeups for distance temp, station PSI, ect, ect, for a given caliber (prieviously impuTted)?

My advice...

Top end (regular) rangefinder. I don't go for all of the electronic extras on some models. Give me actual range to target...I'll figure out the rest. Just my personal choice.
Kestroll 3500 weather station or above.
Shooter app....you have already.
Your gun and scope are good to go.
The other accessories are all personal chioce..probably no wrong choice.

AND, AS WAS STATED EARLIER....PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!

I guess I don't follow.....on the app you can click "get atmosphere from station" and it uses GPS to get the altitude, pressure, temp, etc etc. Am I missing something?

The G7: Yes from what I've read it auto-corrects your come up based off of angle, temp, altitude, etc. At least that is what I took from what I've read. That would eliminate a lot of gear, but it would be nice to have a back up plan. I also kind of need a wind meter to practice until I get a G7 as well.

that is only as accurate as the nearest weather station. In my case, that is 22 miles away, wind, temp and pressure can all be different at that distance, for example, I had my Kestral, and I know that is accurate, there was a 10 degree temp difference and a pressure difference of 1.2 between the two, when you are stretching it out, that can make a real difference. you want environmentals from right where you are, and not depending on what a weather station "close" to you might say

I guess I had never considered how far away that weather station might be lightbulb. Very good to know. Thanks!

It's definitely something that you need to consider

I use a Kestrel 3500 and it does everything I need, wind/temp/pressure/humidity

Thank you. I'm not surprised you said Kestrel 3500. That seems to be the general consensus. I was just hoping to save a few bucks, but at this point, what another Ben gone haha. Thanks!

I will somewhat echo what was said about the shooter app weather station. I find mine will be a constant 15 degrees off on temp and wind is never accurate where I am at. A good wind meter/ weather station will be a helpful tool.

I've learned the hard way, buy once, cry once....and I'm looking at getting a GPS and LRF in the near future....more money going out the door

the 3500 does all I need and while a little spendy, is nothing compared to the cost of my rifle and scope.....

You make a very valid point. I started adding up everything I had in my rifle and scope the other day and it was flat out scary. Hindsight I should have just bought a Gunwerks. Same amount of money in It with less resale value. Then again, this has been a four year project, just exceptionally pricey as of late.

my rifle was a 2 year project, slowly customizing it, next time, it will be all at once.
