I wonder if they just banned shootings and made m u r d e r illegal instead of banning guns if that would stop the violence? Problem solved....

Bad guys will always get guns and they'll be illegal. It's the law abiding gun owners that suffer at the hand of these people throwing around these bans and confiscation threats like nothing.
Defunding the police is going to work out well for everyone, especially the law-abiding citizens that live in impoverished neighborhoods and have no legal way to defend themselves. Take away the police and the legal weapons and what do you have? Wonderland! You ask for help, and THEY will leave you wondering if anyone cares. Everyone knows--when guns are outlawed--only outlaws will have guns, you bunch of dirty outlaws.

The rest of the world faced this evil before.

they elected a strong leader who was up and willing to fight. Have a look

The countries that had this madness start within their borders did not fare so well. It took free countries coming to their aid to defeat the evil of overzealous politicians. With no free country to come to our aid, what will become of the great United States of America. We certainly will not be able to defend ourselves.

We fight like they did

I can see this thread headed for the dumpster very soon to!
You're probably right, we've become so P.C.

It's very relevant information that needs to be at the forefront of our minds right now to protect our 1st and 2nd Amendment rights unfortunately.

It's not fair when one side has rules to follow and the other doesn't.

Are we a nation of laws or a nation of feelings much like law-enforcement nowadays is becoming feelings enforcement and laws do not matter. Let me make clear that I am pro law-enforcement I just believe there's too much political correctness there as well

"They might not have decided to embrace gun culture, but they stopped viewing it as the enemy "
BUT THEY STILL ALL VOTED FOR BIDEN !
. In all cultures there are a handful of people that want the easy way out it is like it's always been said the squeaky wheel gets the grease and we are being out squeaked it's not our fault that some cultures have more idiots in them than others the people in our nation strive to make their own way for the most part and to be left alone that is me the ones that cause most of the problems don't have enough to do I know I raised one he can't be changed because he is lazy the work ethic has went down the tubes with a lot of other things but for you people who live in a different country and are happy with being ruled instead of being governed by a fair government more power to you I like it here the way it's been not having to bow down your views of this country is the violence not the good that happens because media is biased anyone who thinks they can change violence in any country is crazy it's been going on since wacking somebody with a club it's just that there is more people now creating more idiots everyday and it will continue till the end of time sad but true we are doomed it is just how long the older generation can hang on schools should teach reading writing math and stay out of preaching socialist ways I restarted this because I thought true Americans would like to read what I had read and enjoyed that is my America I want it to stay that way blood had been shed and will continue no doubt sorry for the rant David

HICKENLOOPER says it all.

America is facing an epidemic of gun violence that is tragically all too familiar to us in Colorado. We have lost too many of our friends, neighbors, and children to guns, which has resulted in 39,000 lives lost nationwide in just one year. Over the past decade, more than 1.2 million Americans have been shot and millions more traumatized by gun violence, which has disproportionately impacted communities of color. Each day, 21 more children are victims of gun violence.

The loss of precious lives is incomprehensible, devastating, and deeply etched in our hearts and memories in places such as Columbine, Arapahoe, Platte Canyon, STEM School Highlands Ranch, Aurora, and in schools and communities across our state and nation.

For too long, the National Rifle Association's (NRA) leadership has recklessly fought even the most basic gun safety measures, such as universal background checks, which 90% of Americans and a majority of the NRA's own members support.

When I was Governor of Colorado, we took on the NRA leadership and won. It wasn't easy, but with the support of local and state elected officials and a diverse coalition of Coloradans, we were able to enact legislation requiring background checks for all gun sales, as well as a ban on large-capacity magazines. We became the first purple state to enact comprehensive gun safety legislation. If we could beat the NRA in Colorado, we can beat them nationally.

Senator Gardner has received nearly $4 million in support from the NRA and is standing in the way of allowing background checks — among other reforms — to receive a hearing in the United States Senate. He has also voted against closing loopholes that allow guns to fall into dangerous hands. Enough is enough.

As your next Senator, I will fight for comprehensive, common-sense policies to tackle gun violence.

A National Agenda: Common-Sense Gun Safety Policies

  • Ensure background checks for all gun sales
Background checks save lives. Since the 1990s, the background check system has blocked the sale of more than 3 million guns to criminals, domestic abusers, and other dangerous people. We need to expand background checks to cover gun shows and online retailers, as well as close the "Charleston Loophole" to ensure that all background checks are properly completed.

  • Establish national magazine limits
Magazine limits save lives during shootings. The shooter who killed 12 and wounded 59 at an Aurora movie theater in 2012 was carrying a gun equipped with a 100-round magazine. The shooter in Tucson, Arizona, who killed six and wounded 13 — including former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords in 2011 — was carrying a handgun equipped with a 33-round magazine. That shooting came to an end when he was tackled by a bystander while he tried to reload his gun.

  • Restore an assault weapons ban
It's time for Congress to enact an effective assault weapons ban that builds on the previous legislation that expired in 2004.

  • Fund community-based violence intervention
Communities of color in Colorado and our nation have to deal with gun violence on a daily basis and face a considerably higher risk of being a victim of gun homicide. Funding evidence-based violence-intervention programs has been shown to be effective at reducing shootings in cities across the country.

  • Strengthen enforcement against gun trafficking
We must stop gun trafficking by strengthening prosecution of the small number of "bad actor" gun dealers who illegally sell guns without a background check. Law enforcement also needs the tools to treat straw purchases (where criminals who can't pass a background check have someone purchase weapons on their behalf) as serious offenses.

  • Stop the proliferation of "ghost guns"
Ghost guns are firearms that can be assembled at home with parts that have been ordered online or produced by a 3D printer. They are available without a background check, cannot be traced by law enforcement, and are an emerging issue in Colorado and across the country. We must pass a federal law ensuring that no one can construct a firearm without first going through a background check.

  • Hold reckless gun manufacturers responsible
We need to repeal the 2005 law that uniquely shields irresponsible gun manufacturers from lawsuits and puts them in the same category as every other business.

  • Implement Extreme Risk Order Protection laws
In order to prevent future acts of violence, Extreme Risk Order Protection laws let families and law enforcement temporarily remove an individual's access to firearms when judged to be a danger to themselves or others. These policies are effective at both preventing mass shootings and reducing suicide.

  • Create a safer future for our children and communities
While the NRA leadership has embarked on a relentless effort to mislead, mischaracterize, and deceive, we know in Colorado that we can protect our Second Amendment rights AND protect our children and communities with reasonable gun safety policies.
I don't think banning large magazines is wrong or right.
If you can provide evidence that your competing in a class that require large magazines you should get a permit to do so.
I think the same for assault rifles.
Why not fully automatic rifles as well in private ownership as long your required to have it locked up at your local shooting range and can't have it at home?

Every time I wan't a new gun I need go apply with the police and they will issue a permit and I can go buy. The seller the send in the paperworks and a copy of the permit where the seller filled in the serial works as an temperoarly certificate of ownership before the police send a laminated official one.
If anyone use a gun to conduct crimes the police can figure out trough records who has provided that gun and take the correct actions.

I can make my own rifle, but I need apply for it at my local police station and they will provide me with a serial number I need to engeave into the part.

I think some simple regulations can reduce the number of shootings by a few %, but limitations on magazines and type of veapon can reduce the damage potential of some of those incidents.

What I think has bigger influence is the culture.

You have to be 10years old here to take part in organized training or competitions.

Human like figures are not forbidden, but none of the shooting organizations are using it for neither target practise or competitions.

The frontal lobes are not completly developed with a child and not finish it's development until early 20's. Therfore there is a age limit of 16yo for hunting small game and 18for large game. (You can still hunt large game when 16 if your with an other adult hunter)
I don't think any of this alone can explain US gun violence, but it would be natural to compare to other nations with huge amounts of guns.

I would say there is a lot of guns here, but still gun related crime is almost zero and in general the public has an relaxed relationship towards gun ownership and I think thats mostly because they have an strong feeling that people who own guns are suited to own them.

Probably the biggest danger for gun owners are themselfs. If you fight any change and US continue to have so many deaths related to guns the forces that are against guns could grow stronger until they are the majority and it could also give vegans more political power.
I think it is in both the manufacturers and the owners long term interest to get a draft that enshure you get to keep your rights to own the guns you need to while those worried can feel more safe.

Here we go again worried about people's feelings our rights have been written in the constitution for 200 years and are continually chipped away this is a document that our country was founded on and since you don't live in this country you don't quite understand And at least in this country that makes your opinion less valid .You know one of the big things that gun controllers want is to help with mental disorders maybe they should start with teaching people how to rationally deal with their feelings feelings are someone worried about something that has not happened but they feel that it might I'm tired of giving up my rights because someone is worried about something that has not yet happened to them leave my rights alone and learn to deal with your feelings go see a shrink if you must

I think you need to live with the laws that you are happy with and not worry about our laws that are not affecting you just like I don't worry about your laws David

Our constitution was written in 1814 and stated that jews and people belonging to society of jesus was forbidden to enter the country. Do you really think we should have defended our constitution from change? Yes or No?

That I don't live there and don't understand your country/culture is the same argument people middle east use to marry 6 year olds and the same the Chinese use to defend there cruelty towards animals. I guess that make it just as relevant 🤔

It sounds like your country is behind in time by several years if it was written in 1814 a good friend of mine that has written several books in his lifetime told me a while back that countries that are so far behind other civilizations are that way for a reason and to expect them to catch up in an orderly fashion is out of their probabilities until they have put the time in to advance their culture that is why we still have people eating the brain out of live monkeys sitting in the middle of the table or tribes that would revert back to cannibalism if given half a chance it's a diverse world we live in I thank god every day I'm not in fear of a bomb going off in a Walmart parking lot every time my family goes there so if protecting that freedom is by owning a gun sign me up let god sort the idiots out it just seems he doesn't do it fast enough.
