Go to socks.

Darn Tough are what I wear most days but when it comes to hunting I really like Merino socks made by Swandri here in NZ. The Alaska sock that the LRH shop sells look good.

Kenetrek and Kuiu with hunting boots.

Been wearing Balega with athletic shoes. Pretty impressed with them. Plan to see if they make a boot sock

Darn Tough full cushion boot socks. I haven't had the compression issue with them, but switch them out every day. I let one pair dry each day if the hunt/weather permits while wearing the other. Even on day hunts I always have 2 pairs of socks.

Darn tough full cushion steely socks. Made for steel toe boots but perfect in my hikers

If hunting, you are normally walking/hiking a lot. I recommend a thin liner sock, silk or a synthetic material really helps with any blister / hot spot issues. Cabelas sells a nice one.
