I would like to dura-coat my GII hunter rifle.

I can't seem to find anybody who has removed the handguard on this type of rifle.

I have emailed DPMS and received no response and received no help from other forums.

Can anyone on this forum tell me how to remove the handguard? It appears it can be taken off with some sort of wrench or tool, but I don't want to mess anything up.

I am the guy who gets upset when I see someone has marked hardware with a tool or painted over hardware. It is my Dad showing thru.

Thanks for any help. JW

Loosen the lock nut with a spanner wrench or something similar then use a heat gun where the hand guard screws to the barrel nut. It has some kind or adhesive that keeps the tube from coming loose. It will come off when it gets hot enough but it will not be easy.

Coy Franks,

Thank you for the information.
I own all kinds of tools for cabinets and counter tops but I don't own any AR building tools.

I will look around and find what I need.

Once again. Thank you for your time and help.

JW
