Fitting a BDL Style Floor Plate To Stock

Should the Floor Plate be fitted tight or does it need a little clearance on the rear end?

I like just a little clearance so the removal and installation is easy.

I've read that some Gunsmiths leave a little clearance at the back of the receiver tang to accommodate flexing of the stock under recoil. I've also read numerous articles about cross bolts and stocks splitting behind the magazine box. Do you not give any consideration to this when fitting a floor plate?
