Got the first bird of 2011 this morning in Tennessee. 20# 8.5 in. beard and
1 3/16 spurs. I'll try to get some pics up in a few days.
 
Good bird. You notice any beard rot?? Spurs that long and a beard that short, it seems to me that something has happened to the beard. Thats a 4+ year old bird according to the TWRA.
 
No, it didn't appear to have any rot. I've taken several older birds with beards that length. I think it's more to do with the terrian they live. Steep mountain birds keep their beards worn short and lots of snow & freezing wears them down also.
