Why is everyone saying #5? I am just learning about these things and I can't reason why #5 was chosen.

Because on the target, 2,3,4,5,6. stacked up pretty tight vertically. Velocity wise 4,5,6 are tightly overlapping despite the 1 grain spread in charge weight. By choosing #5 you are in the middle of the node and still far enough away from high pressure.

I would use the load for shot #1 for the third firing of these cases, while running Berger's recommended full seating testing. https://www.longrangehunting.com/th...-from-berger-vld-bullets-in-your-rifle.40204/
Then repeat the ladder test with a valid best coarse seating.
Pick a flat spot load, and tweak seating within it's apparent window for best group shaping.

Also, make sure the barrel being tested is taken to stable fouling and temps throughout all shots in the test.
