My neck goal is to cerakote/paint the barrelled action. Well, cerakote seems expensive to me with the budget and all, and I don't have a problem painting the barrel, it's the action I'm worried about. Seems it would wear the paint down pretty quick with the bolt cycling. Advice?

Nice looking rig! Hope it shoots as good as it looks.

As far as the paint goes, I definitely wouldn't paint the action. You built a nice rifle, save up the money and do it right with Cerakote if you want it a different color.

Nice build!

I've been preaching it for years, but everyone likes to argue about how it's only slightly cheaper than a full custom... Which is not true. Full custom will cost you significantly more.

Nice job Matthew! I hope it is a real shooter. The SS crowd is definitely growing and there are some really nice builds out there. It is nice to see someone do it like you did. Congrats........Rich

How do you like the Smith barrel? I'm in Manitoba and have thought about trying one of his barrels. How long was the wait, and how does it shoot?

So far, I love it. Haven't shot it yet.. That is the real test. I got to visit Rons shop and watch him work. He's more well known in the cast bullets scene and his barrels are legendary around here. My wait was 6-8 weeks. I'll post results when I hopefully start shooting this weekend. It'll be some time before I shoot enough to break the barrel in.
