We are leaving in the morning for Wyoming, Unit 23 for a couple antelope. We have 4 doe tags so if we can fill a couple i will be able to taste antelope for the first time! We are bringing our 257 Roberts shoting the 80 grain TTSX at 3284 fps, a 25-06 shooting the 100 grain TTSX at about 3000 fps (i know thats slow but i was in a hurry to work up a load and this shot under 3/4 MOA so i left it), and the 338 Lapua pushing the 280 grain LRX at 2635 fps.

We are hunting tomorrow afternoon and sunday to about midday and staying the night in Gillette.

I hope to get a doe at 500+ yards with the Lapua for what i guess what you can call my first longrange kill.
Ill post a couple pics if we get anything.

We just got back from getting our limit of pheasants, (youth season starts today). So now we are headed out for wyoming!!

Well we saw 400+ head of antelope today, all on private land. Absolutly nothing on BLM or state trust land. Any suggestions from people who have hunted unit 23 straight south of Gillette?

We will try that.:D the thing we are worried about is a $500 trespass fee and a $1000 trophy fee if we get one. I guess is doesnt hurt to ask.

Success!! We got 2 does and a fawn this morning, i shot my two does at 486 yards with the 338 Lapua, first shot was a perfect double lung, she ran about 20 yards and fell over, then the other one the wind picked up a bit and i gut shot her but she stayed there so i shot again, this time adjusting for the wind but held a little too much and hit her in the neck, Needless to say it was a BOOM-flop.

It was 486 yards as the Barnes bullet flies but about 650 yards as the hunters drag.:D

We saw a buck top over a ridge so we thought he might have some does on the other side and is looking for a couple more since they are rutting. We went over and looked over the ridge and saw nothing, then i looked behind us toward the truck and saw two fawns that were walking towards the buck. So we hightailed it to a small gully and my dad got set up with the 25-06 and the two fawns came in at 183 yards, he shot and it was a bang flop. She was angleing towards us a little but It was high shoulder shot that exited about half way back between front and rear leg. Will get pics up in the AM.
