Hi. I'm interested in fire forming some brass using a false shoulder. I wonder if a crf action will allow you to fire form without creating the false shoulder? Since the controlled round will hold it against the bolt face? Thoughts?

There is no "need" to have a false shoulder. If an AI cartridge is set up properly you already have .004 crush but I use .004 neck tension and put them into the lands about .020 just because cant hurt.
I've fireformed probably 1000+ non - AI without false shoulder and haven't lost a case just .004 nk tension and into the lands .020
As long as your tight against the boltface i don't see any reason why the
Boltface matters

So you think a crf will do the trick without a false shoulder or jamming a bullet into the lands?
Depends on how tightly the boltface/extractor hold the case head.
Some CRF w/standing blade ejection systems do not hold cases tightly against the bolt face, because the case does have to eject.
Check it on the bench

I've fire formed quite a bit of 6.5-06AI brass using the cream of wheat method in a Mauser action. No false shoulder & obviously no bullet, haven't lost a case yet.... YMMV
