Finding true BC

Is it worth the time and effort to use a meplat tool and to figure out the true BC of your bullet for hunting out to 1000 yds. Any input in this area is greatfull since i am new in the long range area and i am building a custom rifle for the purpose of 1000 yd and further hunting. And what is the best way to figure the true bc. Do you need multiple cronos and what ranges do you do your tests?

You should buy Brain Litz's book

Meplat tools can help consistency but usually reduce BC. If you point them up afterwards you may get back to the original BC.

A rifle must be shot in to check drops and that process will allow you to confirm the bullet BC within your ability to shoot accurately.
